David Shing was born and raised in a small town in New South Wales, Australia.  Thanks to his extraordinarily diverse family (David's one of 10 children), David grew up immersed in numerous styles of music.

David Shing discovered song-styling in the unlikely place of heartache.  Since then, David has developed an exceptionally rich style which draws upon exquisite melody, pure emotion and enthralling story-telling.  A natural performer, David's striking charisma, humor and sensitivity make him a truly beguiling stage presence.

David wrote and produced all 22 songs on his home-spun debut album “Salvation”.  Although lyrically the songs of "Salvation" are profoundly melancholic, the melodies beautifully reflect real love and faithful anticipation in “Darkness to Bright”, “Fine Romance”, “It’s About You”, “Lullaby Tonight” and “Do You Dream of Me?”

“Love Letters for Lia” is David's most recent album.  "Love Letters" features ten original songs that David secretly penned for his bride prior to their marriage in 2004. This album of intimate poetry and warm melody manifests the personal and artistic renewal David experienced in finding true love.  Collaborating with the brilliant Andrew Gaskins on piano, David delivers the grace and intimacy of these delicate expressions of love through a clean, organic sound.

"Love Letters" opens with “Always be Mine”, a story of long-awaited unity and the power of developing love over distance.  Songs such as "Best Friends" move listeners to tears with simple acoustic arrangements and tender sincerity.  Other highlights include the unforgettable "So Beautiful" and the buoyant rhythms of "Little Darling." Gaskins' piano-driven finale of "Forever" underscores David’s captivating poetry and singular voice.
